Exp System 01/29/2016 04:30 PM CST

Been reading posts and want to summarize to see if I'm correct -

INTELLIGENCE
How much total 'pool' of experience you can gather at one time before you get mind locked.

WISDOM
How quickly the experience pool is 'drained'
Into earned ranks.

Discipline is for concentration with small bits of other attributes. No effect on experience.

Oh and while I'm on it... does REFLEX have other uses than evasion? I heard juggling is centered on strength, which makes no sense to me. Especially since the reflex training site is called the juggling school in Crossing. Specifically looking if reflex has any play in stealth or other defensive skills (such as defense, shield, parry, armor hinderence). And lastly when do you see armor hinderence actually drop? I heard in the skill rank of 80s in armors you see them noticeably drop.

I asked more than I meant, those are my questions. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!

Type each character statistic to see what each stat influences. The elanthipedia links go into further detail.

discipline

Discipline increases the accuracy of damaging spells and improves the size of your experience pools. It contributes to offensive Mind, Magic, Charm, and Fear contests and defensive Fortitude and Will contests, among other things.

intelligence

Intelligence improves the size of your experience pools and increases magical spell damage. It contributes to offensive Mind, Magic, Spirit, and Charm contests and defensive Reflex and Will contests, among other things.

wisdom

And the other statistics:

strength

Strength affects your roundtimes with weapons, how hard you hit, how much you can carry, It contributes to offensive Power and Fear contests and defensive Fortitude contests, among other things.

agility

In a nutshell, yes.

> Discipline is for concentration with small bits of other attributes. No effect on experience.

Discipline has a small effect on experience; much smaller than wisdom or intelligence. It helps with pool size, like intelligence does.

Discipline also plays a role in all sorts of other contests. TM accuracy, defense, stealth, contested spell defense, etc.

Reflex is also used in some contested spell defenses. Might have a role in shield and parry, I'm not sure. Juggling is based primarily on perception; I don't know if any stats are involved.

Stat trainers for reflex and agility not making sense is practically a tradition at this point. The Shard agility trainer has you dodge arrows, for example.

I can't help you with the armor hinderance questions.

You are correct about how intelligence and wisdom interact with the experience system. They have other uses, too.

>>Discipline is for concentration with small bits of other attributes. No effect on experience.

Discipline is probably the most used stat in the game. It plays a part in almost every system including experience gain. It does a little bit of what both intel and wisdom do. It is also the stat that helps with stealth.

>>Oh and while I'm on it... does REFLEX have other uses than evasion? I heard juggling is centered on strength, which makes no sense to me. To start off the juggling system is pretty much dead since foraging and using HUNT in combat teach Perception far better now. Second, all defensive skills, along with reflex, are rolled into one score called Defensive Factor. So reflex will help with defense no matter what kind of stance setup you have. As I stated earlier discipline is the stat that will help stealth.

>> And lastly when do you see armor hinderence actually drop? I heard in the skill rank of 80s in armors you see them noticeably drop.

It depends on the armor type mostly. Light armor will drop to minimum hinderance sooner that plate armor. You will start to see it fall as it starts to move away from 0. I want to say light armor hits minimum ~100 ranks while plate armor is more ~200 (maybe 250). I don't have any real data for it just going off memory. Either way maneuvering hinderance hits minimum way before stealth hinderance does.

The armor and shield guide on elanthipedia breaks down pretty much everything you ever wanted to know about armor.

That discipline tip was interesting. I thought reflex would be more for that. If that's definite that's the priority for me - stealth is more important for my character than, well, pretty much anything.

If your a thief, and i'm just saying this because you said stealth is more important than pretty much anything, then disc it definitely something you want to boost up as quickly as possible.
