How do I wear a short sword of dark windsteel with a fur-wrapped hilt. 12/02/2016 05:15 PM CST

Having not played in nearly a year, I have a short sword that I seem to have forgotten how to wear. I untied it to put it into my hand, but when I try to tie it, I can't seem to wear it again. I've tried "tie to" and "wear", and when I study the sword, no further information is revealed. It is a short sword of dark windsteel with a fur-wrapped hilt that was bought at the Dwarven culture fair at Ties for Things (3). I would appreciate the help for knowing how to wear this again.

To what was it tied?

If you were using a toolstrap or something with Rebecho ties, TIE SHORT SWORD TO [TOOLSTRAP/CONTAINER]. From then on, you can simply use WIELD SHORT SWORD and SHEATHE SHORT SWORD. (Note: You must be using a toolstrap or Rebecho tie that accepts the noun "sword." STUDY the toolstrap or Rebecho item to see which nouns it accepts.)

> untie lance from toolstrap
You remove a kertig lance from your leather toolstrap.

> tie lance to toolstrap
You attach a kertig lance to your leather toolstrap.

> wield lance
You draw your lance from the ties on the leather toolstrap.

> sheathe lance
Sheathing a kertig lance, you quickly tie it to your toolstrap.

If your sword was tied to something else, we'll need to know what.

I don't think it was tied to anything but a body part. arm, leg, ankle, or wrist. I can't remember which.

I don't know of any melee weapons that are just worn with no weapon strap, toolstrap, or Rebecho tie. I would check your logs from when you untied it.

Failing that, STUDY often reveals any special mechanics that items have.

If you initially WIELDed it, SHEATHE will remember where it was and put it in the same place (or wear it or tie it).

How do I check the logs from when I tied it during previous time I played?

Never mind, I figured it out. It is "tie sword to strap", even though there is no strap in my inventory.

Apparently the strap is considered to be on my belt. So instead of "tie sword to belt", it is "tie sword to strap".
