This doesn't really matter because alb rings are no longer a thing, but it was definitely weird/buggy behavior so I figured I'd post it here.
tl/dr: the game seemed to thing my ring and my gweth were the same thing, or were swapped, or...unclear. Getting rid of the ring and then rewearing the gweth seems to have fixed it.

A sturdy vault, set in the back wall, stands ready for your use. The floor is covered by a soft thick carpet of deep red, and the walls are paneled in polished golden pine. Looking at the back wall, you notice a tiny gap between it and the rest of the room. You also see a steel door and a garbage chute.

Exotic tapestries of every possible description drape the wall ringing the Carousel's core. A circular roof supports a vast framework of iron and timbers rising to the building's apex. Countless gears, pulleys and weights within the structure form the strikingly complex and beautiful mechanism which drives the Carousel. You also see a uniformed Dwarven attendant, an ebony registration desk, a ironwood arch, a rosewood arch and a blackwood arch.
