Altering an Axe 07/12/2011 02:09 PM CDT
Here is what I am trying to pull off: http://images.wikia.com/ninjagaiden/images/0/06/Fuumashuriken.jpg

The image above is a windmill shuriken. It's a large thrown weapon; however in Dragonrealms all we have access to are spears, axes, hammers and mallets as far as heavy thrown weapons are concerned.

I'm trying to fanagle a tap description to imply the image above while still maintaining 'axe' as the noun since that is unlikely to change and probably the closest damage type. I'm thinking a hurling axe whenever those get introduced into new weaponsmithing. So far I've come up with the following:

- a gigantic triple sword-bladed axe with a truncated handle
- a gigantic shaftless windmill-bladed axe
- a shaftless throwing axe in the shape of a gigantic chakram
- a shaftless spherical axe with four fanned blades

Do you all have any ideas on how I could better imply the image above while maintaining the noun of 'axe' as I doubt they'd let me change the noun?

Might want to take a look at this weapon. Its more like a chakram than a shuriken and Its got a couple fancy verbs for S'kra, but is entirely functional for all races and is similar in concept at least to what you want. Also... are katavdars in new weaponsmithing? If not, they should be. Not with the fancy tailband swapping verbage of course.

a polished steel tailband with serrated edges

This is a circular flattened ring made to be gripped at the edge. Within two concentric lines inlaid with niello, the circle of steel is covered in myriad diamond-cut swirls. Each swirl glitters slightly as the light plays across the polished silvery surface.

>turn my tail

With a flick of your thumb, you spin your steel tailband into the air. As it starts its downward spiral toward you, the steel tailband suddenly explodes into a fine, silvery mist, expanding into a polished steel katavdar with serrated edges as it settles into your palm.

A polished steel katavdar with serrated edges is a heavy thrown and heavy edged melee-ranged weapon.

You are certain that it could do:
low puncture damage
moderate slice damage
fair impact damage

You are certain that the katavdar is poorly balanced and is reasonably suited to gaining extra attack power from your strength.

You are certain that the steel katavdar is moderately strong, and is in pristine condition.

The steel katavdar is made with metal.
You are certain that the steel katavdar weighs about 70 stones.
You are certain that the steel katavdar is worth exactly 1250 kronars.
Roundtime: 8 seconds.

>turn my kata

With a flick of your will and a turn of your wrist, the katavdar trembles then shrinks, settling into your palm as a polished steel tailband with serrated edges.

Oh wow, that's like... perfect. Just get rid of the racial and 'tailband' references and it'd be 100% perfect. Thanks for that Evran!

Wondering if a variation of these can make its way into weaponsmithing :)
