TDP's for 150 and up 02/22/2016 09:44 AM CST

When,oh when, will characters above Circle 150 be offered tdp's? All that was ever done was to add the additional 50 circles to 200. This is a big detriment to players wanting to continue, in my opinion. It's like we get a penalty for advancing. If it ever happens, it should be retroactive back to circle 150 too for fair play sake.

There is currently no intention of supporting growth beyond 150th in terms of slots, stats or guild abilities. That may change in the future, but right now we struggle to get all guilds (or even most guilds) up to the levels we have actually committed to.

The only real reason we even allow advancement beyond 150th circle was because we needed it for better grandfathering of the skills 3.0 conversion. We've always maintained that we aren't trying to do fine balancing or developing abilities for that range of circles. They exist for bragging rights and little else.

I'm trying to figure out how this is a penalty?

Under 3.0 TDPs are constantly recalculated whenever it's relevant - this avoids the problems we had prior to 3.0 where TDPs were more variable and sometimes due to bugs people would end up with more or less TDPs than expected and there'd be no way to get back to the prior value.

Why would you have needed the 50 extra circles for grandfathering in, if they have no value?

Circles are used as the bare-minimum metric for what types of skills players would have at point X. They were being forward-thinking and nice to players.

In other words, the initial benefit was to let players who got new skills due to reasons get them at a level that is at least comparable to the bare-minimum they'd have to be in relation to their other skills. The benefit past that point is just chest-puffing.

Because we introduced new skills and requirements that we wanted to keep in line with the existing skills someone had and a character with minimum requirements for 150th circle and a character with 1000+ ranks in many skills are very different beasts.
