Some of the Dragon Priests in the Black Spire 09/27/2006 10:46 PM CDT
First floor

Who: Dragon Priest Juggernaut

Description: Appearing like more of an ornate statue than a fearsome Dragon Priest warrior, the massive suit of intricately crafted armor, three sizes two big, dwarfs the giggling S'Kra Mur beneath. With each movement, the interlocking plates of its armor clank and squeal as they grind against one another, making it nearly impossible for the juggernaut to manage to approach its victim unnoticed. Rusty steaks of dried blood and other unidentifiable bits and pieces cling to the front of the Dragon Priest juggernaut's armor, giving nothing more then a vague suggestion of the true amount of raw killing power it possesses. An expansive array of various types of explosives dangle from a complex harness wrapped around its massive form, gently swaying to and fro with the slightest movement.

Where: [The Black Spire, The Halls of Insanity]

Notes: Drops mana bombs and large dark orbs which act as concussive bombs. There's three messages for the large dark orb before it sets off and you can disarm it if you are skilled enough.

Who: Dragon Priest Zealot

Description: Like most of the lost souls who have found solace within the teachings of the World Dragon Priests, the Dragon Priest zealot has chosen to tread upon the same blood-soaked path as its fanatical predecessors. Overlapping plates of blackened steel armor protect the scaly surface of its muscular S'Kra Mur body, giving it the look of a newly discovered species of bipedal beetle. An intricately carved triangular dagger affixed to a steel chain dangles from a hook at its hip, ready to be drawn at the ready in a moments notice. Shadowed beneath the hammered visor of its dragon-shaped helm, its cold serpentine eyes constantly scan the surroundings in search of its next sacrifice in the name of the World Dragon.

Where: [The Black Spire, Chamber of Blood] and [The Black Spire, Halls of Suffering]

Notes: Throws a triangular dagger at you. Recommended to use a shield along with evasion.

Bug: A Dragon Priest zealot smoothly slips the triangular blade attached to a fine steel chain from its hip and lowers its stance with a gentle hiss. Taking careful aim, the Dragon Priest zealot flings the triangular blade at you with a snarl!
With lightning fast speed, Grungy easily evades the triangular dagger with room to spare.
[You're solidly balanced and have slight advantage.]

Sometimes shows messaging in first person perspective when it should give a third person perspective like this:

A Dragon Priest zealot snatches the triangular dagger attached to a fine steel chain dangling at its hip and begins spinning the blade wildly though the air. With a smooth snap of its wrist, the Dragon Priest zealot sends the dagger flying towards you in a blur of deadly steel!
Stepping sideways with agile movements, you manage to easily evade the triangular blade, which speeds past you to lodge shallowly in the ground nearby.
[You're solidly balanced and have slight advantage.]

Second floor

Who: Dragon Priest Crone

Description: Long past the prime of her life, the Dragon Priest crone lives out her remaining years guiding the young with the ancient tales of destruction, sacrifice, and murder in the name of the World Dragon. Molted and faded scales, long having lost their youthful sheen, covers her stooped frame in random patches. Bluish-grey cataracts film her eyes, rendering the old crone almost blind. Her withered mouth is missing many incisors. The flaccid lips sag inwards causing her speech to sound even more sibilant and a little garbled.

Where: [The Black Spire, Chamber of Pain]

Notes: Casts crystal spike and shear. Summons a blue-green pivuh.

Who: Blue-Green Pivuh

Description: Standing on four stout legs, this lizard-like creature is about the size of a farmer's prize pig. Glittering blue-green scales glisten as they shift and move over its heavily muscled frame, giving way to brightly feathered wings which sprout from its back. Beady black eyes peer malevolently about, predatory and dangerous.

Where: [The Black Spire, Chamber of Pain]

Notes: Guards the Dragon Priest Crone from melee attacks. Casts this -

A blue-green pivuh's scales shimmer with a faint emerald sheen as it lowers its head with a coarse growl and slowly draws in a deep breath. With a sinuous lunge forward, the blue-green pivuh spreads its fanged maw and exhales a scorching blast of emerald smoke and flame at you!
Ripples of radiant heat cause the air to shimmer as the blast of emerald fire streaks though the air with a dull roar! With quick movements you twist away from the inferno, feeling it surge past you with a rush of scorching air.
[You're solidly balanced and in dominating position.]

Who: Dragon Priest Sentinel

Description: Considered the master of disguise amongst the ranks of its fellow Dragon Priests, the sentinel prides itself in being prepared for any situation or setting it may find itself in. A dark silk cloak is draped from its wide shoulders to surround its body, partially obscuring a variety of tools and equipment utilized in the art of disguise and deception. Camouflage scales covered in an array of scars outline its well-toned frame, allowing the sentinel to blend in easily with most wilderness terrain. Just above its dark serpentine sneer burns the fire of hate in its eyes, fueled by ancient fanatical teachings of Dzree.

Where: [The Black Spire, Halls of Suffering]

Notes: Casts telekinetic throw, uses naptha on arrows at times and uses a longbow. Recommended to use shield and evasion.

Who: Dragon Priest Assassins

Description: Inky black scales cover the Dragon Priest assassin's lithe body from head to foot, undulating gently with each liberal breath slowly exhaled. A deep crimson scarf winds like a serpent around the lower features of the face, its tattered ends cascading down the wearer's back in veritable waterfall of blood-hued silk. An impressive selection of curious tools of its trade dangle from thick loops on its scuffed black leather belt, crafted for both stealthy and easy access at a moments notice. Its large glaring eyes, two pools of shadow enveloping a fiery orange halo of pigmentation, fail to reveal any hint of emotion underneath its burning gaze.

Where: [The Black Spire, Chamber of Death]

Notes: Attempts to snipe at you with LX crossbow and attempts to backstab you with an LE dagger. Can be pointed out of his hiding spot. Recommended to use shield and evasion.

How would you rank them skill wise?

Ranking them in terms of difficulty (generally) or ranking them in terms of what they teach in a weapon (an approximate number for their soft or hard cap)?

I do it as follows:

Defenses - The Low number is what is needed as an average of shield/evasion to survive for 20 minutes of ATK hunting them without any buffs and average reflexes. The High number is what they soft-cap teaching wise for a defenses-secondary guild.

Offenses - The low number is what you need at a minimum without buffs to kill one faster than 2 more spawn. ie. keep up and not get swarmed. The high number is what they soft cap at for melee weapons. Ranged is always wonky, so I tend to let people extrapolate their own numbers from it.

Hope that helps, if you could use those criteria how abouts do they rank?

If I were to rank those creatures listed in terms of overall difficulty into tiers:

1st tier (easiest from the creatures I listed) - Dragon Priest Zealot

2nd tier - Blue-Green Pivuh

3rd tier - Dragon Priest Crones and Dragon Priest Sentinels

4th tier (hardest from the creatures I listed) - Dragon Priest Juggernauts and Dragon Priest Assassins

Difficulty goes beyond appraisal of how skilled they are defensively and offensively or their stats. It means, what they have to offer on the battlefield as a whole.

The [Chamber of Blood] in the Black Spire offers only Dragon Priest Zealots. There may also be other dragon priest zealot hunting grounds outside the spire, but I'm not positive.

Yeah, but making a run for the Chamber of Blood will run you straight into the territory of the assissions right? Assassions=bad bad death.

It won't lead you any where near the dragon priest assassins. The areas are separated. The chamber of blood is on the first floor and the dragon priest assassins are on the second floor.

HOWEVER,

The dragon priest juggernauts are on the first floor, but do not mix with the dragon priest zealots in their hunting grounds. From the black spire gatehouse, go past the portcullis and head northeast and than you'll be in the dragon priest zealot only area (the chamber of blood) within the black spire.

The Dragon Priest Zealot only area also is in the [The Black Spire, Parapet] area. From the black spire gatehouse, go southwest or northeast and climb the ladder to get into that area.

Coolness I was under the impression there was the spire and there were surrounding grounds with assassins and assorted unpleasent creatures. juggernauts are fine because if I wander into the world of instanity I can always bolt back to blood cause them juggernauts just use big swords and bombs. Now about how to acaully acessess the spire from Ravens Point?

That's right. Didn't list the ones outside the spire yet. Just focusing on the spire for now.

<<Now about how to acaully acessess the spire from Ravens Point?>>

It's northeast of Raven's Point. There's a few ways to get in. You can walk through hidden areas, climb through vines and more. Just keep trying.
