Planning First Ever Trip to Muspari 05/29/2011 11:34 AM CDT
I'm currently planning my first trip to Muspari. Is there anything I need to know? About the desert? Dangers? Is the path to Muspari from Theren pretty much straight forward? Do you need a certain level of ranks in climbing/swimming/etc to get there and back?

You need to get a passport in Therebourough and bring a book to read for the long barge ride. Shake the sand out of your shoes while you are there.

The desert was one of my concerns, as you can get lost? And how long a boat ride we talking? I'm thinking the barge fee is in lirums, any idea how much?

It's not a boat, but a sand barge and it is free. Don't know exactly how long the ride is. Seems to me to be at least as long as the ride from Riverhaven to Langenfirth.

Can you get lost? I guess you could if you don't use maps. But it really isn't that big of an area.

Note! The barge will dock halfway between Mus'pari and Hvaral, both ways. Do not get off here, unless you want to try the desert on foot (not reccomended if you don't have good climbing skills and a good sense of direction.)
Let it go on to the next stop, which will be by Muspari/at Hvaral.

Having mapped it out, looks like you take the path after marauders to Fornsted:

To Hvaral (passport needed here):

Then I assume you need to take the "barge to Oasis":

Which will take you here?

Now, if I read this map correctly, it seems you get off there and take another barge to Muspari? You're saying don't? Instead, stay on this barge and it'll actually make the second trip to Muspari?

Correct. The barge merely pauses at the Desert Oasis. If you remain on board, the barge will take you the rest of the way to Muspar'i.

Yeah, definitely don't get off and switch barges. I thought the same thing the first time I went. Ended up going back where I started. That was a slightly frustrating trip...lol.

If you have a horse or ~700 climbing you can make the trip from Haizen Cugis to Muspar'i, but it's a lot easier to just wait on the barge. Hvral to Haizen Cugis is pretty easy comparatively, maybe 300 ranks possibly lower.

If for some reason you've decided to brave the desert in hopes of saving time, bring water and something that'll hide your features since you can have complications from lack of them. You'll also want to watch out for the sand barge, it will win that game of chicken.

I'm not overly familiar with that area. Could you describe where the climbing route is between Haizen Cugis and Muspar'i? I didn't notice it on the map.

It's on map 48 labeled "To Muspar'i (unmapped)" because I've been to lazy to update the map. It takes you out into the Velaka maze outside Muspar'i's main gate. The route consists of about 23 rooms with all 8 directions available.

You'll need a passport from Therenborough, and a couple of maps through Fornsted and Hvaral- Which the route passes through on the way. The sand barge is much faster than it used to be, but still about the same time as the barge between Lang and Haven. The sand barge does stop for a couple of minutes at an oasis. Otherwise, it's pretty straight-forward.
