OK folks, how many do we have in the heart of the South. I'd like to try and perhaps get something together. Was working on a Nawlins'con a few years ago but, that's out of the question now. I know a few folks from Mississippi like myself. How many more of ya are there, and in the surrounding areas? If something were possible, who would be willing to go, and where are some good places to do this? I'm partial to Jackson Mississippi myself but am definitely open to options.

Kraelyst and I are currently in Memphis for one more year. We should all get together at a casino sometime.

According to that Map-o-DR players, there are several around the Atlanta area, the wife and I included. If you do plan something let us know.

I am old and falling apart. If by Par-TA! you mean have people get together, have 2 beers, and fall asleep by a pool, hell yea.

<<If by Par-TA! you mean have people get together, have 2 beers, and fall asleep by a pool, hell yea.>>

laughs....The wife and I can relate to that, heres the equation.

1 male Paramedic + 48 hours on the truck and 24 hours off = Completely uselss on his days off.

1 female full time nursing student + Completely uselss on his days off = A pair on overworked, underpaid, and frustrated people.

Throw some kids, pets, and chores into the mix and it gets even more fun.

So, in conclusion, two beers and fall alseep is appropriate. I'd loved to meert some of the players or GM's involved in Dragonrealms I hope to see some of you at St.Louis unoffical Simucon, work, school, and babysitter permitting.

I have to admit, I only drink on occasion, but for an out of town gathering, I am willing to make an exception. One good night of rest and the good company of folks that share my interests, I'm good for 3 beers. Course, I'll need 2 good nights of rest afterwards, heh. Well, aside from Unofficialcon in St. Louis, would Jackson, MS work for those interested in a Southeast gathering. I just want to get the ball rolling and do a bit of research on hotels, rates, seasons, conference rooms. It won't be an all out thing I'm sure, but would be nice if we had a general gathering area with wi-fi and the possible access to a pool. Food is another consideration so, if anyone has any ideas about any of this, please throw them at me. I don't mind doing the pound grounding on this but, it's definitely in the planning stages.

(location <city/state>, hotels, rates, season, conference rooms, food, possible excursions>

Another possible idea would be to do something like a trip to a theme park. Atlanta, GA and Houston, TX are pretty much the options that I know of on that one. Any others out there worth consideration?

Woah, who are you a paramedic for? My dad is involved in a lot of that up in Charlotte. Just curious ;)
Yes my hubby and I have gotten old too. Its really sad when your college friends come visit and they talk about the nights out drinking and the hot new bars...and you talk about your dogs (and wish you could be playing DR).

Oh! And Hanryu and I live about 5 miles from 6 Flags over GA. We've got lots of room...(as long as you're not adverse to pups).

Wait, wait, wait. Did we ever talk about that? I always assumed we were old from the beginning. :grins:

Nice, but I live further North. I work for Randolph county EMS.

<<and you talk about your dogs (and wish you could be playing DR).>>

Heh, I always wish I could be playing DR. I'll sit at the base between calls daydreaming of "If I only had a lap top I could play while I'm working." Not all of us have that luxury. *hums and points at Hanryu* For the record, our friends are mostly health care workers they come over we share a beer or two, maybe even a bottle of wine and talk about some ungodly trauma we had or the finer points of gastric lavage, Oh Exciting! I have however turned a few people on to DR so my efforts aren't completely wasted.

I'd be game to headed down to Atlanta for a day or two, six flags sounds fun.

Hey hey, good to hear from ya Lancel. I have to admit, the folks from MS are beginning to outnumber the other southern states as far as I can tell, heh. I myself live in Jackson, MS. I also know for a fact that there are four others that live close to Jackson, and soon to be a fifth. So with Lancel and the soon to be player, that puts us at a known total of 7. Let's see who else we can drum up in MS. Might give us the advantage and grounds for holding a Southern gathering here in Jackson.

Cool. I know of a few in the Memphis area and 2 more just a lil farther away. I'm would hope folks from up in the TN area wouldnt mind a 2 hour drive down to Jackson for some fun! Hell if givin enough notice I got some extra space for a few to crash...

Hm, I heard at least 4-5 people in NC and I know of two more in SC and 5 in the atlanta area. MS is a looong way for those people in NC.

Well, NC would be a long trip to MS. I know there a few folks that live in Alabama, so there's another possibility. Atlanta, GA is another option I believe. It's between 6-8 from Jackson, MS depending on how ya drive, so more like 4.5-5 hrs for me, lol. Birmingham would be a decent option but I don't know much about it. Any of you folks from AL mind to fill us in on what adventures are to be had there, and round about hotel rates and such? I know I'll be going to the con this summer for sure, but would definitely be open to doing this during the summer if all are up to it. Late summer would work best for myself though.

Well I'm a big fan of Atlanta as a gather point (though I may be biased since I live here). There is a LOT to do here, 6 flags, the water park, the brand new INSANE aquarium, the botanical garden, etc. Plus we know the area fairly well and might be able to find deals.
