Cleaning 05/10/2008 05:54 PM CDT

One of my non-Bard characters decided to start playing musical instruments, so I went up to the peddler in Riverhaven and bought his dirty wares. They're literally dirty. Good idea, teaches people new to this system they have to clean instruments that get dirty. But please, lower the difficulty. It's taking me about five minutes per instrument with 20 mech and 0 instrument skill to get the things clean.

Yeah, as a novice bard in Riverhaven I was very frustrated. It took me something like 30-60 cleans to get them fully clean (at 15+ seconds per clean), AND I would massively fumble the easiest plays while they were dirty. I don't think you start cleaning well until you have some instrument skill, and I couldn't get my instrument skill off of learning because my instruments were so dirty!

Not to mention the fact that I didn't know about the peddler at first and was trying to save up the two gold needed for a lyre from that inconsiderate Chofupi.

Very frustrating. :(

This may or may not be helpful, but many of instruments in the Forfehdar music shop can be played with zero ranks and do not come dirty. Some of them can even be played in the rain without harming them. I specifically remember the stamping stick and whiskey jug.

That's what the Bardic Academy in Prime was founded for, I'm surprised no master bards found you and helped you out even a little.
