I bugged this in game a few days ago, and it's possible it was fixed since then, but I was under the understanding that when mech left that embroidery would teach outfitting. My trader character did not learn anything in any ability or skill when it did some embroidery the other day. Also, the level of the skill of embroidery, which I did not bug report, was not portrayed in the description of the embroidered item (ex: a sloppily embroidered pouch). Has anyone else had this problem?
