Duskruin - New Design Materials 07/22/2022 07:20 AM CDT
Greetings!

Four new (non-crafting) quest-level and one new (non-crafting) auction-level design materials are being released at Duskruin 2022. Thanks to GM Winna for helping to create some of these as well!

Quest-Level
forgeheart iron
Barbarian forgemasters discovered a unique application of crushed chakrel crystals in the tempering process. While the resultant metal retains none of the unique qualities of chakrel, it does take on a distinctive aesthetic of billowing embers swept across the surface of the iron that proved desirable in its own right.

Common description: Reddish-orange chakrel dust shows across the surface of the metal like a billowing cloud of windswept embers.

godsmarked turquoise
Rumored to be a divine revelation of the Thirteens' influence on the Plane of Abiding, the godsmarked turquoise was so named after a devoted supplicant brought a specimen to their local clergy, who was awed by its thirteen rayed star banding. Since that time, the High Temple has made a point of searching out and securing as many as they can find, considering the stones to be a representation of their holy cache.

Common description: The brilliant, blue-green stone is laced in bands of glittering silver that take the form of a thirteen rayed star limned in gold.

gravecloth
Blessed by the clerics of Urrem'tier, the tightly woven fabric with a silky finish can be dyed in a variety of colors. Gravecloth is traditionally used by followers of the Thirteen to bury one's dead and is woven with a pattern of interlocking scorpions in tribute to Urrem'tier.

Common Description: The silky fabric is tightly woven with a pattern of interlocking scorpions in tribute to Urrem'tier.

grimwood
More often found on rocky outcrops, grimwood trees are slow-growing and hardy. Grimwood's midnight-black wood and pale grey rings create a highly contrasting dappled rosette pattern when quartersawn.

Common Description: Pale grey rosettes dapple the midnight-black wood, reminiscent of bleak mountains shrouded in mist.

Auction-Level
sianedra (leather)
Leather, usually goat or cow, is treated with a combination of blood and tanning salts. In tradition, the blood used was from that of a vanquished Gorbesh enemy, giving rise to its name sianedra (blood battle in Gorbesh). However, as the concept grew, Gorbesh leatherworkers realized that any blood treated with the tanning salts would work. Most commonly now, blood of the animal the leather comes from is used.

Once treated, the leathers take on rich caramel hues. Before the leathers harden, the material is molded and formed -- most Gorbesh opt to purchase sianedra leathers showing a defined physique, due to the color of the leathers appearing something like hard, glossy skin. Sianedra can be dyed, but always retains its rich caramel undertones.

Enjoy!
