things that can be altered questions... 12/22/2019 03:38 AM CST
So I'm killing some RL time waiting for the sun to rise IG...heh. And so, of course, I was looking over my alteration idea list to see what torment I can inflict on the GMPC alterer's in 2020!

Anyhow, a couple questions on items that may be fun to alter, but thought I'd get a little feedback now on what the chances of said-alteration happening were.
* https://elanthipedia.play.net/Crimson_Crane_Couriers_(2): on these calling cards from Crimson Crane, specifically the message that will appear on the card, what would be the guidelines? So if I wanted to include my full title with my name and full post titles, or conversely, if I wanted it to just say "Kythryn", can I pick-and-choose from what is showing? Or could I even assign myself a (PG-rated) nickname for the card, like "The Cartographer"? And then on the tag-line message that would be under the name, is there a character limit, so it all stays on 1 line, or can it wrap around? And would make more sense to alter one of the cases to have the card you want in it and then never CLEAN it? Or would the alterer instead modify the card that is in the case you hand to them, so if you also wanted the case altered, that would be a 2nd alteration?

* Last Corn Maze, in the incidentals was some cologne that you could apply an infuser stone to to add more uses (https://elanthipedia.play.net/Item:Glass_cologne_bottle_fit_with_a_spruce_stopper). Would altering the bottle TAP & LOOK count as a separate alteration from altering the SMELL? What are the overall character limitations to the smell that you can have on a perfume/cologne if you want to alter the scent? Is there any other "description" that needs to be made? IIRC, there are different smells depending on how much you use, so you'd want different messaging for each level of stink, right?

And I'll try to remember to add this to a list next time GM's are asking for ideas for prize ideas, but could we have some of the semi-permanent facepaint incidentals (ex: https://elanthipedia.play.net/Item:Warped_glass_vial_etched_with_lightning_bolts) and temporary makeup items (ex: https://elanthipedia.play.net/Item:Primitive_terra_cotta_vial) also have the crystal unlock/stone recharge script added to them please!

* https://elanthipedia.play.net/Item:Leather_boots_with_heavy_platinum_soles: I am going to guess it would take a Keishala (RIP) expert-alterer for these, but wanted to check in that these (or similar) could be altered, and if there are any additional restrictions other than keeping things IC with the messaging?

And with that, looks like it's almost sunrise in game. Thanks in advance for any responses!

Hi Kythryn,

I see you're hoping to alter a lot of fun and unique items in 2020!

The good news is, a LOT of your ideas may be able to be altered in a live alteration session. I believe calling cards, perfumes, and face paints are all doable if you find a merchant willing to work on such things. You'll just need to keep an eye out for merchants (both old and new) who may be able to work on the items you desire.

In terms of limits on the custom smells, I'm not sure if I can give you a set limit outside of "be reasonable". You'd most likely need to work with the merchant to determine what's reasonable.

For the leather boots with the platinum soles, those may be harder to find someone willing to work on them but they're also alterable in a live session. You're correct you'd most likely need someone with abilities like Keishalae, sadly her passing means it may be a while until you find someone willing to do the work.

Hope this helps!
