The events calendar link does not seem to be working since it cannot be clicked on from the DR Home page. It usually shows something, such as "No Events" whenever nothing is scheduled, so I am unsure if it is currently under maintenance. Gwenddolyn

There was a thread about this yesterday where Solomon said that Google updated their api and the new code is not backwards compatible. Sinus has someone looking into it.

Does anyone have a list of events that can be posted? I hate to see so many planned events not happening because the calendar isn't displaying. Without in game announcements being allowed anymore for all non-order related events, it is now completely impossible to hold events since nobody knows about them anyways. Not having as many player lead social events has taken away more than half of the fun for many of us players. Since most of the RP and events in DR were NOT order related, I do not see this as an improvement to the success of DR because it is causing less activity and participation.

There is a Thiefly Teach Night scheduled for December 16th at 10PM Eastern, but as Miskton mentioned, the calendar is still accessible, if you know how to search google for it or have the link.

The calendar has been having issues for 5ish days as of today. This was caused by a change that Google made to their API, and, as Solomon mentioned here http://forums.play.net/forums/DragonRealms/Discussions%20with%20DragonRealms%20Staff%20and%20Players/General%20Discussions/view/10311 on the day that it happened, we do have people working on changing things on our end to be compatible with what Google did so that the calendar portion of the home page will work again. It's just something that requires a bit of time.
While it is absolutely a little inconvenient for getting planned event information out in the meantime, to say that non-Order player run events can't happen now is a bit untrue. You have many avenues for getting the word out still, such as gwething your own announcements in game, talking to other players both ICly and OOCly to spread the word, and posting here on the forums. Additionally, as others have pointed out, there are in-game NEWS items that are updated for the calendar entries periodically and there is also a direct link to the calendar right at the top of the NEWS articles. The calendar itself still works, and we are still maintaining it with event additions and changes when they get sent in.

I'm definitely trying to talk to people and trying other avenues to make people aware of my event.
But I've always had a problem with Thiefly events to do this: such as gwething your own announcements in game.

I have to disagree. Running all over gwething and trying to talk to people walking by is even more time consuming than running the event. I know that NOBODY would not want to do that every month.
Therengia Cavalry hosted the first Jousts after horses first came out, and I ran that event every month for over 10 real life years. We utilized the in game adverts that helped us to build a very large crowd of observers and a long list of jousters. I put hundreds of hours of time into those events and feel all paying players should be given the same advert rights, order or non-order alike. Player run events should continue to be supported by staff who want to help them be successful, not limit them. Taking away methods that have made them successful because they are not orders is clearly causing a downturn in non-order events that used to be fun for socializing.
