READ verb on alterations 09/27/2013 10:06 PM CDT
Hi!

In the past month I had two LTB alterations completed by Loriale (thanks Loriale they are wonderful!), and noticed something I never noticed on any of my previous alterations...Namely, it's that the READ's on alterations only work if you are holding them in your hand. Showing them to someone does not allow them to read whatever might be etched, stamped, inscribed, etc. on the alteration. At first I thought this was a mistake in the alteration, but after speaking with a GM who handled an assist request, he told me this was the normal mechanics of it. He suggested that I should mention this in the forum and see if this is something that the powers that be would consider changing. It just seems odd that someone would be able to see all the detail of an alteration when you show it to them, they could appraise it, etc., but they cannot read an inscription.

Thanks for hearing me out.

I could see this being an issue with items that trigger special mechanics on READing. So likely it would have to be manually activated for each item, which could be an issue.
