Bone density table updated 01/06/2013 07:37 PM CST
http://elanthipedia.org/w/index.php/Crafting_Materials#Bone

I will fill in wolf and bison shortly. I have no patience to try and find a stalker, so someone else can do that. If something looks horribly wrong, please let me know and I can try and fix it.

Thanks

Is that a single set of bones used for that stack? 10 units is twice any other set.

Thanks for the info! I got bison, this was the last one I think.

Table is complete.

I don't know if there are other critters that aren't on the list that are de-boneable? Where did the original list come from?

IIRC, Kodius posted a list. Possibly in the Plat forums.

Any chance cave bears and black bears can produces skins instead of pelts? Sorry, it's just been one of those days.

On a more serious note, the bone shiv looks like the patter from which it comes is significantly better than metal weapons with the caveats of not having a 90-hardness bone to use to make it and not having a great deal of control over the weight. Bear bones have 75 hardness and 5 density, just like iron.

A bear-bone shiv is a light edged melee-ranged weapon.
A bear-bone shiv trains the small edged skill.

You are certain that it could do:
somewhat moderate puncture damage
somewhat fair slice damage
poor impact damage
no fire damage
no cold damage
no electric damage

The shiv is terribly designed for improving the force of your attacks.

You are certain that the shiv is soundly balanced and is inadequately suited to gaining extra attack power from your strength.

You are certain that the shiv is marginally vulnerable to damage, and is in pristine condition.

You estimate that the shiv weighs around 15 stones.
You are certain that the shiv is worth exactly 1275 kronars, 1020 lirums, or 920 dokoras.

You thoroughly analyze the shiv, revealing some of its secrets.
This appears to be a type of finished bone edged weapon that is masterfully-crafted.
The shiv is a basic piece to make.
It was made by someone with abilities close to your own skill.
Roundtime: 7 sec.

Compare to:

You deeply analyze the leaf blade sword and pore over its construction.
This appears to be a type of finished small metal bladed weapon that is masterfully-crafted.
The sword is an easy piece to make.
It was made by someone with abilities close to your own skill.
About 4 volume of metal was used in this item's construction.
The metal appears to be composed of: 100.00% iron.
Roundtime: 8 sec.

An iron leaf blade sword is a light edged melee-ranged weapon.

You are certain that it could do:
somewhat fair puncture damage
fair slice damage
poor impact damage

You are certain that the sword is reasonably balanced and is poorly suited to gaining extra attack power from your strength.

You are certain that the leaf blade sword is somewhat unsound against damage, and is in pristine condition.

The leaf blade sword is made with metal.
You are certain that the metal in the leaf blade sword has a quality of 99, placing it at 'extremely pure' on the official Trader's Scale.
You are confident that the metal in the leaf blade sword has a hardness of 70, placing it at 'rather hard' on the official Trader's Scale.
You are certain that the metal in the leaf blade sword has a durability of 40, placing it at 'decent durability' on the official Trader's Scale.
You are certain that the metal in the leaf blade sword has a workability of 50, placing it at 'of about average difficulty to work with' on the official Trader's Scale.
You are certain that the metal in the leaf blade sword has an electrical resistance of 30, placing it at 'a great conductor of electricity' on the official Trader's Scale.
You are certain that the metal in the leaf blade sword has a thermal resistance of 50, placing it at 'good at transfering heat and cold' on the official Trader's Scale.
You are certain that the metal in the leaf blade sword has a physical resistance of 75, placing it at 'very good at repelling physical blows' on the official Trader's Scale.
You wonder if the leaf blade sword might weigh a few tens of stones.
You are certain that the leaf blade sword is worth exactly 1750 kronars, 1400 lirums, or 1262 dokoras.
Roundtime: 16 seconds.

Or:

An iron short sword is a light edged melee-ranged weapon.

You are certain that it could do:
fair puncture damage
low slice damage
poor impact damage

You are certain that the sword is reasonably balanced and is poorly suited to gaining extra attack power from your strength.

You are certain that the short sword is somewhat unsound against damage, and is in pristine condition.

The short sword is made with metal.
You are certain that the metal in the short sword has a quality of 99, placing it at 'extremely pure' on the official Trader's Scale.
You are confident that the metal in the short sword has a hardness of 70, placing it at 'rather hard' on the official Trader's Scale.
You are certain that the metal in the short sword has a durability of 40, placing it at 'decent durability' on the official Trader's Scale.
You are certain that the metal in the short sword has a workability of 50, placing it at 'of about average difficulty to work with' on the official Trader's Scale.

You wonder if the short sword might weigh a few tens of stones.
You are certain that the short sword is worth exactly 1250 kronars, 1000 lirums, or 902 dokoras.
Roundtime: 16 seconds.

You analyze every minute detail of the short sword and smile knowingly to yourself.
This appears to be a type of finished small metal bladed weapon that is masterfully-crafted.
The sword is a very easy piece to make.
It was made by someone with abilities close to your own skill.
About 3 volume of metal was used in this item's construction.
The metal appears to be composed of: 100.00% iron.
You find it impossible to identify who crafted this item.
Roundtime: 10 sec.
