I know originally there we were going to pick pathways, but from what I gather we're not choosing a pathway when 3.0 rolls in. What does this mean as far as picking abilities? Can we pick from ALL pathways? Are there going to be penalties at a later date for learning/having learned abilities outside of your chosen pathway? Or are we going to be limited to learning only the abilities within one pathway?

Yes, no, and no.

My understanding is that you will be able to select abilities from any Path you desire, and at some point you will actually select a Path to follow. Selecting a Path itself will not limit you to just those abilities. It will mostly be an RP thing, although there may be certain Styles/Maneuvers available only in a particular Path.

So as far as basic abilities go (roars, meditations, forms, berserks), you should be able to choose any from any Path. A certain scenario does come to mind though... what if a Barb has more abilities in the Predator Path but wishes to be in the Horde Path?

That's where my mind was wandering. Should there be an extra cost to learning abilities outside of your chosen path? Yes you want to be in the horde, but you really like the abilities of a predator. Maybe not a penalty to learning outside your pathway, possibly a reduced cost to learning abilities within your pathway.

As a point of comparison, for the Bard guild it was proposed by a red name that there would be three Heritage Houses, and Bards could either join one of the houses or decide not to join any. Choosing to remain neutral by not joining either of the 3 would cause all abilities within each house to cost 2 slots a piece. Joining one of the houses would cause abilities within that house to only cost 1 slot, and the abilities in the other houses would become a little bit more expensive at 3 slots a piece.

Barbarian pathways could be entirely different though.

interesting layout.

The last tentative mention is that picking a path would reduce some of the prereqs associated with their abilities, and/or give you free picks from that path.

I'm sort of evenly divided. I could go either predator or horde.

You recall that you have 1 training sessions remaining with the Guild.
You have received training in 8 abilities from the Path of the Horde.
You have received training in 6 abilities from the Path of the Flame.
You have received training in 8 abilities from the Path of the Predator.

Do I go with the 'loud' joke, or the 'bathing' joke?

Also, call them Paths. Pathways are abilities WMs have. We don't want to be associated with those weaklings.
