March Releases 04/03/2017 02:09 PM CDT
Just wanted to say a big thanks for listing the March releases - I got this information on email, and read it on here, and was pleased to see that some things are happening.

I did have a question though, that necromancer island, is that the pay to play island from the quest? or a different one? If its part of the everyday game, couldn't we have had normal critters rather than undead? It really narrows it down for training when things are undead, even frustrating for the necromancer characters.

>is that the pay to play island from the quest?

No.

>couldn't we have had normal critters rather than undead?

Unless they changed something, both were constructs and the salt golems were cursed but the banyakea were not.

Adan'f are cursed and seem to work for necro healing? Wouldn't the bigger issue be the construct status (assuming that the island was intended to be an easy place to hunt for necromancers anyway).

>The salt golem is cursed, and you are certain that it has an incredible spirit that is healthy.
>You are certain that the twisted banyakea has an incredible spirit that is healthy.

Salt golems had PFE/bless/harm evil/etc... react to them while the banyakea did not.

While there could be a de-sync between Prime and Plat, the versions of Banyakea I hunted in Plat were not constructs or undead, I was able to use harvest on them.

I was thinking that Jeihrems island was simply semi-overrun with monstrosities and experiments. Those critters aren't there for training purposes, they're there because Jeihrem hasn't (yet?) bothered to repurpose them for scrap.

Nope. The island is completely part of the normal game.

>>couldn't we have had normal critters rather than undead?

That was honestly a mistake on my part when I wrote that chunk of the email. It's more correct to say that one of the creatures is a cursed construct, and the other is... well not undead exactly... They were undead in our original designs, but stuff changed over time, and I mixed that up when I sent the email info in. I fixed the info on the posts/front page link, but the email is already out. Sorry for the confusion!

I just wanted to say thank you everyone for all your efforts lately with theses releases. I appreciate the hard work and I also really like the monthly email. Hopefully it continues!

Quick question: Where can I read more information about Basalt Isle and Jeihrem’s Barrow? Where is it? How do you get there? How tough is the hunting? Any shops? There's not much about either on Elanthipedia.

Thanks again for all the releases though! I'm really looking forward to all of it!

What's on Epedia is what's generally known to outsiders.

The way there seems set up as a bit of a secret and probably shouldn't be posted.

The hunting seems to be 500ish and 700ish, provided I'm judging it correctly.

There's a general store with general store type things and a bare bones town.

Really, it's mostly for perverse necromancers. IMO, the only reason for anyone else to go there is to die in new and interesting ways.

Im glad they are living. Err, I mean they are the saddest creatures and I feel better putting them out of misery.

Basalt Isle is one of the many tiny islands that are technically part of the Qi archipelago, but are more or less left to their own devices. The exact location is not a known thing ICly by anyone other than Jeihrem himself and possibly those who live there, but they're not talking. Even those Adventurers who have traveled there presume that the island's true location is at least somewhat shrouded by Necromantic magics. It's certainly not a place that just anyone with a ship could sail to.

You can travel there if you find the boat that makes the journey. Rumors are that it makes an occasional appearance at a hidden dock located on one of Qi's more well-known islands. Exactly where you access the boat is an in-game secret. Supposedly moongates and the like can be opened upon the Isle as well -- at least when the Lich allows them to be.

There are two types of creatures said to inhabit parts of the Isle: salt golems (about 100th circle) and banyakea (about 120th circle).

As to shops, there are rumors of normal town facilities being available in Jeihrem's Barrow, such as a carousel, a bank, a general store, a furrier, a gem shop, and a repair shop.

Would it be a violation of secrecy policy to post the shop inventory on Elanthipedia??
