What is the Shifts team? 03/25/2010 10:42 PM CDT
In response to a question:

What does a GM on the Shifts team do?

(From the hiring seminar)

"You will hear it said that CE GM's are the "People" GM's, their jobs mainly being geared towards direct interaction with the players themselves. Shifts GM's are the "people people" of the CE side of things. They deal with the majority of the problems, both player-driven as well as technical, and must have both a keen empathy at the same time as you maintain the ability to stand firm on the rules and policy. A logical mind helps as well in being able to understand and interpret the finer nuances of the policy, which we are set to enforce with consistency."

"It can be very rewarding as well as very nerve-wracking. It takes patience, a natural flair for Customer Service, a desire to help people as well as the ability to stand firm on the rules in the face of players who are very upset. Don't let this scare you off, because shifts are a whole lot of fun all in all, you get the opportunity to meet some really great personalities!"

"All GMs are taught how to do shifts. All CE GMs have a weekly shift requirement. Development GMs have the option to do shifts once they are cleared from training. But a Shifts GM has a higher weekly shift requirement and therefore the most experience and aptitude for the job."

In other words, a Shifts GM is a Gamehost on Speed. Or something. :-P

We will be hiring for the Shifts team somewhere around May, so if you are interested, get your applications in!

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.
