Hi guys!

We've got part of the REXP system loaded in the test instance for you to poke at.

DISCLAIMER: The numbers in the test instance are not the final numbers. The cycle has been drastically shortened and the different caps are not evenly set, in order to facilitate testing and be sure all of the moving parts are working correctly, together and independently of each other.

Cycle? Cap? What?
There are three new terms coming with the rested exp system: its pool cap, usage cap, and cycle.

The pool cap is how much rested exp you can have banked on your character at any time. Simple enough. In test's case, no matter how long you rest or stay off-line for, you will cap at 30 minutes of rested exp.

The usage cap is how much rested exp you can use. In test's case, regardless of how frequently you fill the pool, you can only use up to one hour of rested experience during one cycle.

The cycle is how long it takes for the usage cap to reset. In test's case, after six hours your usage cap will refresh and you can spend an additional hour of rested exp. The timing of the cycle is personal rather than universal: it starts when you, personally, do something with the rested exp system and then runs its course.

Information about all three of these features will be available to you in the EXP readout, immediately under the tdp/favors/deaths line.


What can you do to help?
Log in to test. You will have 30 minutes of REXP banked in your REXP pool. Use it. Confirm that it correctly multiplies your field exp to rank conversion by 3x. Let it run out. Confirm that it stops multiplying your conversion after 30 minutes.

Log back out. (The SLEEP function to refill your REXP pool is not yet implemented.)

Leave it be for at least an hour. Now, have another peek. Do you correctly have 30 minutes banked again? Use it. Log out for another hour. Try to use a third bonus and confirm that it does not multiply, and does not decrement your pool?

After the 6 hour cycle refreshes, are you able to repeat all of these steps with the same result?

Two final notes:

1) Timing messaging in Experience may be funky, let us know if you see oddities / errors in how much time the EXP verb tells you that you have.

2) Don't panic. If there's a question, ask it. If there's a problem, we'll try to fix it. It's in test for a reason. Constructive commentary should be posted in the DR Testing folder.

All of your characters have been updated in the Test instance, so that you can work with the most current version of yourself!

F2P accounts will not have access to this system in the Test Instance at this time.

EXP seems to get stuck on "less than a minute remaining" after 30 minutes have expired, I'm not sure if exp to rank changed at that point or not. 3x field to rank conversion seems to be working as intended otherwise, I'll hop back on in an hour.

When I logged into test the announcement said I'd have 30 mins rested exp. I had 14 mins to start on login, after waiting a minute
I then had 15 mins stored. I went to gain field experience and now it says I have 9 mins stored. I haven't used any of it.
And it continues to count down while gaining field experience.

Not sure if it's related, but the death of critters seems to be having issues:

< Driving in like a master combatant, you bash a darkspine quarterstaff at a yellow-bristled gremlin. A yellow-bristled gremlin attempts to evade, only slightly avoiding the blow. The quarterstaff lands a massive strike that rips the left arm away with a wet sucking sound.

Nothing remains of the hut that once stood here but the bare earth of the foundation and a few posts sticking up from the ground. Vine tendrils inch across the earth, forerunners of the encroaching jungle lurking just beyond the ruined hut. You also see some silver coins, some bronze coins, some copper coins, a yellow-bristled gremlin, a medium mint green jade, a small auburn jade, a yellow-bristled gremlin which appears dead and a yellow-bristled gremlin.
Obvious paths: south, southwest, west.

It doesn't give you the standard dead variation of:

[You're bruised, solidly balanced with no advantage.]
[Roundtime 2 sec.]

and they seem to be decaying fast?

Looks like you didn't get your 30 minutes to start with ("less than a minute" of rested exp stored). I need to track down why this is happening to some characters but not others.

I logged back into test and had 11 minutes in my timer - Maybe logging out then back in helped?

I was able to do a bit of a test, and even get the last pulse with a level 4 RPA running:

Summary - All looks good as far as 3 times the gain on each pulse, the results are below. RPA running seemed to boost the tert skill (shield) by a far greater percentage than it did for primary (TM) and secondary (HT)
