Full suit of storebought? 03/17/2013 10:59 AM CDT
If I wanted to outfit a novice, without dropping 100+ plat on a suit of forged plate, but I want full body (arms, chest, legs, etc.) plate, what would my best bet be? I'd consider just HP, but do want leg coverage. I haven't found any store bought brig greaves yet either, but that'd work too.

I believe the armor store on Aesry sells brig greaves. I'll have to check it, though. Also, the armor shop in Haven near the empath guild sells plate items not available in Crossing.

Good luck!

If you have any forging you could make a set of bronze fairly easy. maybe 200-300?

These appear to be updated to the new armor system, but the info could be wrong still.

200-300 ranks is NOT novice forging skill.

Eh? Clearly he's not using the novice to outfit his guy.

I rather assume the novice is outfitting himself. With no help from bigger characters/alts to get the armor in question.

Generally speaking the goal is to have a character outfit himself.

Or to be able to point a novice toward town X and say 'go find this shop'.

Ahh that's a bit different then. Plate armor can be kind of expensive and if this person doesn't have the plats, it doesn't really matter if they know where to buy it. Sure, they can try and save up but they will need different armor until then.

The Ironworks in Haven still sells decent armor. Everything in the catalog listed as Light Plate got converted straight to Brigandine, and everything listed as Heavy Plate got converted to Plate. It never had any Neutral Plate armor.

Store. Bought. Plate. Full body. Not terrible. Simple question and set of requirements.

Most plate I see on tables goes for upwards of 100 plat. There has to be an alternative on shelves somewhere that is A: not utter crap, B: cheaper than 100 plat. That's all.

The armor query is broken, unless you fixed it last night. It searches for the pre 3.0 armor types and returns every piece of armor. Tried using it several times for this type of question.

>fluted armor from the Hoy

Is that stuff not absolutely terrible? I remember the general rule being never, ever, buy or use stuff from stone clan because its trash and weights tons.

Fixed some of it, and discovered something else that needs fixing. Disabled the broken bits, but it still should be usable.

And yeah, that Stoneclan armor is terrible. Forged Covellite has better stats.

I recall the armor shop in Theren Keep sells full body plate, or you can ask your friendly neighborhood paladin to buy one from the guild shop; it's still a bit pricey, albeit nowhere near player-forged pricey.

I'd also be happy to forge some relatively basic stuff for you or a novice for free. I might have some lumium lying around, although maybe not enough for a full suit.

<shrug> He asked for full body plate. That's the first one that came to mind. I don't actually wear it with any of my characters, but I had seen it recently.

I'd forgotten about this topic.

El awesemo del Caraamon fixed epedia so the armor and weapon queries work correctly now.
