Plate question 01/23/2012 08:22 PM CST
So, I've been out of the loop with armor for a while and I was wondering what the current least hindering set of plate I could get my hands on would be these days.

Currently wearing a forged half plate/greave/helm/gauntlet set up that finds me at fairly hindered.

I don't mind going for rare metals, so if anyone has ideas I'd love to hear 'em!

App of the half plate to give an idea what I'm trying to get better than, but in my opinion I could suffer a bit of protection for the lower hindrance.

The plate looks like it offers protection for the following areas:

right arm
left arm
chest
abdomen
back

You feel certain that some royal blue plate appears to impose noticeable maneuvering hindrance and overwhelming stealth hindrance, offering:
high protection and extreme damage absorption for puncture attacks.
high protection and extreme damage absorption for slice attacks.
moderate protection and extreme damage absorption for impact attacks.
very good protection and great damage absorption for fire attacks.
moderate protection and great damage absorption for cold attacks.
poor protection and great damage absorption for electrical attacks.

If you were only wearing some royal blue plate your maneuvering would be lightly hindered and your stealth would be somewhat hindered.
But considering all the armor and shields you are wearing or carrying, you are currently fairly hindered and your stealth is highly hindered.

You are certain that the royal blue plate is marginally vulnerable to damage, and are practically in mint condition.

The royal blue plate is made with metal.
You are confident that the royal blue plate weighs about 381 stones.

absolutely least hindering, if your not mixing armor is lumium field plate + helm I believe. Other than that lightened orasteel 67/33.

I haven't managed to collect a lot of data yet on plate. To be honest, what you have (8) is the best I've seen. Here are some numbers:

Half plate:
- tyrium heavy: 12
- Kanton: 10
- lumium: 10

Gauntlets:
- tyrium heavy: 5
- damite heavy: 5
- kertig heavy: 5
- damite light: 4
- Kanton: 3

What is it that you have? Can you give me the full tap and the exact weight? And what kind of metals it was made out of if possible?

Here's all the half plate apps I have. I also added in 3 full plate apps for comparison. My link below on armorcrafting has a lot of detail, I'd always recommend checking there.

Basically in lumium you'd be saving about 100 stones weight, with a little better physical protection (slice, impact), and a little worse in elementals (top of my head, a little better protection, a bit worse absorb).

Seems like it wont pay for me to upgrade just yet then, I greatly appreciate all the excellent replies though, that was exactly the kind of information I was looking for.

Hopefully when a bit more testing is done there will be some room for improvement for me, can't say I'm unhappy to still have a good set by the current standard though!

Thanks again!
