> look on spear
On the ox-tongue spear you see an attached snowbeast-pelt strap.
> remove spear

You sling an ox-tongue spear with a stout iron-studded haft off from over your shoulder.
> put spear in my bald

You put your spear in your burlap baldric.
> get second spear from my bald

You get a thick-shafted ironwood spear bearing many shallow notches from inside your burlap baldric.
> wear spear
You can't wear any more items like that.
> look on spear
On the ironwood spear you see an attached snowbeast-pelt strap.

Both spears have an attached weapon strap, but the ox-tongue spear doesn't take up a shoulder slot while the ironwood spear does? What's up with that?

The only thing I can figure. Is that one is a shoulder spot while the other is a "shoulders" spot.

Are you actually able to put the ox-tongue spear back on? I've sometimes managed to be wearing more things than I have slots. Then when you take something off, you can't put it back on.

It's odd, but I've found that it only doesn't take up a slot if it's not the last object on your should.

Remove something else, put them on, then add that other thing back on.

When I was just starting Croegar out I ran into this problem a LOT (tough starting a pike-primary character with no cash or way to get storageable pikes like javelins). What I was, if you remove your bags, you can actually handle 4 spears on straps in a single shoulder slot, then add your last bag back. 1 weapon on a strap counts as a slot, but 4 of them actually fill the slot, it seems.

You try, but in the cramped confines of the tunnel, there's just no room to do that.
