Re: Pikes and Fatigue 01/02/2008 12:17 PM CST
The only "pike" pikes that were changed were the ones sold in Crossing. The boarding pike on Ratha still apps at 143 stones, and as Alexii said they aren't changing any fest items for whatever reason. I have a Therengian pole-axe that apps the same as the old khuj (pike and really heavy), but was told when I assisted that it wouldn't be changed to app like the new khuj (halberd and not so heavy). So I'm stuck with a slicing pike -- which there basically aren't any good combos for (let alone for pikes in general).

<<Is this from the current fest, if so, which tent?>>

I apologize, it was from a fest quite awhile ago. They go for 40pk now unfortunately.

A short steel spear is a pike melee-ranged weapon.

You are certain that it could do:
moderate puncture damage
low slice damage
low impact damage

You are certain that the spear is fairly balanced and is fairly suited to gaining extra attack power from your strength.

A short steel spear is a short staff melee-ranged weapon.

You are certain that it could do:
fair puncture damage
poor slice damage
fair impact damage

You are certain that the spear is fairly balanced and is poorly suited to gaining extra attack power from your strength.

You are certain that the steel spear is fairly sturdy, and is in pristine condition.

The steel spear is made with metal.
40 stones
You are certain that the steel spear is worth exactly 70000 kronars.
Roundtime: 16 seconds.

Certainly not the best stats on the pike side, as the golden tasseled spear up in Theren and the igles skefne sold at the current fest both have heavy puncture, but it's the construction on most spears that is ridiculous.

Sometimes I find it funny that I actually carry a short staff weapon on me. I suppose if I ever decide to backtrain targeted magic I can bring SS along with it just for kicks.

Thanks! I forgot that I actually had a boar spear in my vault...40 stones...life is much happier now:

A balanced boar spear chiseled with rampaging centaurs is a heavy thrown and pike melee-ranged weapon.

You are certain that it could do:
heavy puncture damage
low slice damage
low impact damage

You are certain that the spear is fairly balanced and is fairly suited to gaining extra attack power from your strength.

You are certain that the boar spear is of average strength, and is in pristine condition.

The boar spear is made with metal.
You have no clear idea how much the boar spear weighs.
You are certain that the boar spear is worth exactly 31457 dokoras.
You remain concealed by your surroundings, convinced that your appraisal of a balanced boar spear chiseled with rampaging centaurs went unobserved.
Roundtime: 16 seconds.

Yeah, that's one of the Edword spears, which my Paladin uses. It apps just like the Theren spear but is average construction instead of somewhat flimsy. It's a great pike (and HT).

80 stone crossing pikes have great puncture damage and hit from pole, but they're somewhat flimsy. I personally haven't seen anything above great puncture damage wise. When the khuj was pike it had severe slice (like my pole-axe still does), but like I said unfortunately there aren't any combos that would make use of a severe slice pike. The ox-tongue spear does the same damage as the Theren spear but is well constructed (and 15 stones heavier). Not sure about forged; I think the template is broken.

Are there any one-handed pikes which have at least Heavy Puncture damage?

Yes there is. The golden tipped lance is heavy puncture and is sold in either SCC or Shard. There might even be some festy ones

Here is the appraisel since I figure you'll ask for it

appraise lance careful
A slender gold-tipped lance is a heavy thrown and pike melee-ranged weapon.

You are certain that it could do:
heavy puncture damage
no slice damage
fair impact damage

You are certain that the lance is poorly balanced and is fairly suited to gaining extra attack power from your strength.

You are certain that the gold-tipped lance is of average strength, and is in pristine condition.

The gold-tipped lance is made with metal.
You guess that the gold-tipped lance probably weighs several tens of stones.
You are certain that the gold-tipped lance is worth exactly 451 dokoras.
Roundtime: 16 seconds.
>swap
You move a slender gold-tipped lance to your right hand.
>

Yes I've tested to make sure and the lance is onehanded

Woah, totally changed my mind about these things. I'm dropping my theren spears and am going pure lance--Thanks a ton Kleis.

Only issue I've run into so far, is I can't find anything to hold 'em(outside of my duffel bag. Ick!)

Are there any actual weapon containers which can hold five to six of these lances?

You can by straps from one of the stores in shard. Not sure if the greatsword sheath from Theren will hold them or not. Just remember that the poor balance will make them a little less accurate so you might had a small issue when hunting above your head

Straps? You wear all of your lances, or do you only carry one?
