I envision it as a kind of long, slightly curved knife. It does seem to be effective, as light edges go.

Considering it's a Tog weapon, this may well be accurate.
For my own part I always envisioned them like a large-bladed linoleum knife. Mechanics-wise they were replaced by the jambiya, but they remain a favorite LE of mine.
