title; and lock 09/11/2005 02:58 AM CDT
i like the title of the spellbook when you peer at it closed, and i got the normal lock, put it on, closed it, but i've never had a key... is there a key? did it fall out randomly somewhere? did i not get it? cause I know the bloodlocks have keys...

When you first purchase your lock, you just get the lock itself. The first time you attach that lock to your spellbook, the key is placed in your hand.

Old, but probably still fairly accurate:
Verbs while the book is opened: http://vortressa.mermaiden.net/spellbook_opened.shtml
Verbs while the book is closed: http://vortressa.mermaiden.net/spellbook_closed.shtml

Pay special attention to the verbs that can damage your spellbook, since the spellbook repairman is even rarer to see than the spellbook merchant...

By rarer do you mean non-exsistent? So far there has not been a repariman and supposedly there is not going to be one. That is a bunch of BS. It make no IG sense that there isn't someone who can rebind books. It is a simple enough skill. All I need is someone who can take the dings and dents out of my Ironwood cover. The internal workings of the book are flawless, just the cover that is scuffed. Its a wood cover, so a craftsman who is skilled enough to repair a badly damaged mistwood bow or to create the cover in the first place should be able to visit us readily enough. If not Id like to voulenteer my time and skill to do the repairs What up oh masters of our realms? Surely this is not to much to ask. Send a repair man. His services are desperately needed

No, I just mean that the repairman isn't a character who shows up often. However, IIRC, he has been seen at least once around the Realms, and that wasn't too long after the first appearance of the spellbook merchant.

Mainly because the original purchasers had to PAFO what verbs would actually damage their books, and the concept of weather affecting anything but musical instruments was also new. ::shrug:: Believe what you will. I know I will.

While I agree that it would be nice if a spellbook repairman would appear at regular intervals of less than millenial duration, I find the approach you took in your post to be somewhat offensive.

If you offend someone, what reason do they have to do anything out of the ordinary to help you? Believe me, there is a massive difference in what a police officer can do about your traffic violation depending on your attitude, and I much prefer getting a verbal warning than one (or more!) tickets. YMMV.
