Player-owned/crafted traps and locks 09/07/2008 04:00 PM CDT
Not certain this is the right folder, but here's some food for though:

The relatively new trap harvesting and multiple locks got me thinking about characters using their own traps and locks to protect their valuables. It seems to me that a cloth gem pouch shouldn't offer much of an obstacle to a determined thief. Perhaps the coming expansion for crafting can include trap and lock making, allowing characters to use their own strongboxes, crates, etc. protected by their own traps and locks with the same, or greater, range of difficulty as creature boxes. I'm thinking store-bought boxes with slots for traps and locks to be bought or crafted by a skilled craftsman, and installed - also requiring someone skilled in traps/locks. The status-quo invulnerable closed containers makes this idea irrelevant, I just think it's neat.
