Suggestion/Request: MEASURE items in shops 11/01/2013 12:34 PM CDT
I don't know if it's possible or something that'd be considered, but it'd be great if we were able to measure items that are up for sale in shops. I've been looking over the ultrafancy new instruments (kudos on those!) and some cases, but I want to know how big the instruments are beyond just their weight, and I'd like to be able to determine the carry capacity of cases without having to buy them first. It's not a huge deal for inexpensive things, but some of this stuff is pretty pricey and whether I can easily carry it makes a big deal about my desire to purchase things.

You hum a tuneless tune.

To gloam on to this request...

I know it's been said that the reason for the held-only restriction on measure is that things which aren't intended to be picked up often don't have their dimensions/weight set correctly. But anything which is for sale is intended to be held (since buying it puts it in your hand), so it seems like an exception for for-sale items would be safe.
