So I have begun to dabble in spells from other schools. I am a trader, and am currently using horn of the black unicorn as it appears on the wiki that holy is safest for a lunar caster to use. However, I am able to get off about 5 or 6 good casts with some dire inner monologue warnings, and then the next few casts end up with some pretty beefy head bruises. What I am wondering is, would the Sorcerous Patterns feat help this? it states that it helps reduce 'violent backfiring' but I don't know if the head bruises qualify as the violent backfire thing. Also some things in the realms seem to not help as much as it reads on the label. Is it worth the slot? Do lower level spells like horn of the black unicorn work easier then higher ones? Or do any and all spells from other schools have the capacity to surprise you with an exploding head?

Yes. The feat should reduce the chance you will backfire on the spell and also the backlash penalty (likely only one tier).
